چکیده
IN a previous communication dealing with the anaerobic decomposition of rice straw [Acharya, 1935], it was noted that several factors such as temperature and reaction of medium greatly influenced the rate and course of the decomposition. An examination of some of these factors is reported in the present paper. The experimental procedure and methods of analysis adopted were the same as used previously [1935], except for the changes and modifications noted in the experiments described below. Exp. 1. Influence of temperature. To 20 g. portions of rice straw were added a mixture of 2 g. KHCO3 and 2 g. NH4HCO3 in order to neutralise the acids formed, 0-2 g. K2HPO4, 0*05 g. MgS04,7H20, 10 ml. of a 2 0% extract of a rice soil and water to make up 200 ml. The bottles were stoppered and paraffined and after evacuation were incubated at the desired temperatures. At weekly intervals the accumulated gaseous products were tapped off into a Hempel's burette, measured and samples taken for analysis. The liquid and solid residues in the bottles were analysed at the end of 6 months, according to the procedure already described. The data obtained, calculated per 100 g. straw taken, are given in Table I.

متن کاملDifferent Pathways to Integrate Anaerobic Digestion and Thermochemical Processes: Moving Toward the Circular Economy Concept
As one of the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective method, anaerobic digestion (AD) has been widely studied and developed as a conventional technology to degrade biodegradable materials and produce biogas simultaneously. Various substrate sources are used in this process such as organic fraction of municipal solid waste (MSW), waste activated sludge (WAS), animal manures, agro-indus...
متن کاملEffect of Physical and Chemical Operating Parameters on Anaerobic Digestion of Manure and Biogas Production: A Review
Introduction: The need for food produced from animal husbandry has made it a growing industry which result in increment of livestock waste. On the basis of environmental and economic considerations, these materials require treatment and management. Anaerobic digestion and creation of biogas are the most effective methods of waste management. Several parameters affect the anaerobic digestion of ...

Background and Objective: Considering the importance of alkalinity in pH regulation and its buffering role, in this study, the effect of inlet wastewater alkalinity on the efficiency of the anaerobic unit of the wastewater treatment plant. Moreover, a superior chemical compound in providing alkalinity to wastewater was investigated. Materials and Methods: This study was performed in the treat...
متن کاملH-2-linked regulation of xenotropic murine leukemia virus expression.
A high proportion of lymphocytes from F/St mice produce infectious xenotropic murine leukemia virus (X-MuLV) and express high levels of cell surface antigens, termed XenCSA, related to the major glycoprotein of X-MuLV. In crosses of F/St with AKR, the high-virus phenotype of F/St was found to be recessive and was shown to be governed by a single locus, Cxv-1, less than 2 centimorgans from H-2K....
